Alphonse's good fortune i fiding the short story he was looking for (see the Magazines section of this forum) has inspired me to try again to find one of my favorite stories. I don't think it appeared in AHMM or WQMM so I put this in the general section.
I had thought the story was by Lawrence Block, but i can't find it in his collections. I have to be careful what I sawy so as ot to give away the plot twists, but here goes...
The story is about a paranoid man. We see him in the morning putting tinfoil in his head to keep out radio waves, the whole nine yards. He goes for a walk past a large building and gets into an argument with a security guard. There is a tragic outcome. Then we see the event from the viewpoint of people inside the building and it changes everything.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Cheers, Rob

Being a librarian I know how unreliable answers to that question are. But... at least five years. Probably more like ten. And it was in an anthology or collection, not a magazine.

Do you remember anything else about the book, such as the cover design and was your copy a paperback? I'm assuming the story was a crime/mystery story and it does sound familiar...

I know this is pathetic but I "wiki-ed" Mr. Block and it has a list of his stories. Maybe You may recall the title you were interested in by just browsing through the list. Or If you have the patience to search those titles at Amazon, you may hit the jackpot. Hope the link helps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Block

I got interested in this and I've done a little poking around, without luck. There's not much to work with as far as searching the Internet. Was there anything special about the building? Or the city? Do you remember the character's name? If you are protecting the surprise ending, you might send some of that sort of detail in a private message.
