Q: I ordered about a month ago, and I haven't received anything yet. When should I expect it?
A: You should allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. If you do not receive your product within the standard delivery period, please e-mail Sandy Marlowe at smarlowe@pennypublications.com. Include your name, address (including zip code), and the item you purchased, and Sandy will follow up on your order.

Q: I'm moving. How do I send in a change of address?
A: Please advise us six to eight weeks beforehand. Call the convenient 800 number below, use our convenient online Change of Addressform, or mail your request to us by sending your current mailing label and new address to:

Q: I live outside the United States, and I am interested in purchasing a sample of the magazine. Is it possible to order one?
A: Yes, you may purchase our Sampler Pack, a random 3-magazine collection of both AHMM and EQMM. However, there is an additional mailing charge to ship outside the U.S. If you are interested, please contact us at smarlowe@pennypublications.com and we will estimate the shipping cost for you. Please supply us with your name and complete mailing address.

Q: Do you sell back issues?
A: Yes. Back issues cost $6.49 postage-paid for single issues and $9.49 postage-paid for double issues. For delivery outside of the United States, please add an additional $2.00.  Click here for details.

Q: I'm having trouble finding your magazine at bookstores in my area. Can you help?
A: If you would like your local bookstore to carry AHMM and EQMM, first let the store manager know. Then e-mail us at newsstand@pennypublications.com or send us a note with the store's full name and address so that we can contact them, too. Be sure to list the magazines in which you are interested. Q: The magazine to which I subscribed isn’t what I was looking for. Can I get my money back?
A: If at any time you’re not completely delighted with the magazines you receive, you may transfer the remainder of your subscription to another title, or cancel your subscription and get a full refund on all unmailed issues. Contact customer service at customerservice@pennypublications.com. To expedite service, be sure to include the title of the magazine, as well as your name, mailing address, and customer number (located on your mailing label).

Q: The value pack I thought I ordered isn’t the one that was delivered. What do I do now?
A: If you are not completely delighted with the magazines we send you, simply contact Customer Service at customerservice@pennypublications.com in order to exchange the product or receive a full refund.

We do not accept e-mail, fax, or disk submissions. We suggest that you review our AHMM Writers' Guidelines for information regarding manuscript preparation. You should not send a copy of your story on disk when you first submit it.

Q: Does AHMM accept unsolicited stories?
A: Yes. In fact, we do not solicit stories; all our stories come "over the transom."

Q: Do I need an agent to get my story read by one of AHMM's editors?
A: We read all submissions, whether they are submitted by an agent or not.

Q: Should I query AHMM first?
A: There is no need to query first. Please send the entire story.

Q: Can I e-mail my story to AHMM?
A: We do not accept e-mail submissions.

Q: My story was published on the Net. Will AHMM still consider it for publication?
A: We do not accept stories that have been published on the Web.

Q: Does AHMM accept art submissions?

Q: I need help solving the logic puzzle in AHMM. Any tips?
A: Robert Kesling, the author of our logic puzzles, has written a very informative booklet, "Solving the 'Unsolved,' " on how to solve the puzzles, which is available free on this web-site in Adobe Acrobat format at Solving the Unsolved. Q: You publish the solution to the Unsolved puzzles in AHMM; why don't you publish how you arrived at the solution?
A: Because it would take up too much space in the magazine. Moreover, one can often arrive at the answer in different ways.

Q: Regarding the entries for the AHMM Mysterious Photograph Contest, do you have any guidelines? May I send in more than one entry? When are entries due?
A: The AHMM Mysterious Photograph Contest is designed to stir our readers' imaginations; the challenge is to write a short-short story of 250 words or less about the photograph that involves a crime. You may send in more than one entry, and they are due about six weeks after your issues arrives, or before the next issue hits the newsstand.

Q: I really liked a particular story that appeared in AHMM, but I can't remember the author's name. Can you help me find it?
A: We can try. E-mail us at alfredhitchcockmm@dellmagazines.com with as much information as you can provide (including the approximate date of publication), and we'll see if we can dig it up for you. If it was published a long time ago, it may be impossible.

Q: How can I contact an author whose work was featured in AHMM?
A: We don't give out authors' addresses, but we will forward a letter to him or her. Address your letter to the author and send it in care of:

Q: My story was published in another country. Will EQMM still consider it for publication?
A: In most cases. Stories previously published in the United States or Canada will not be considered because we contract for first North American serial rights and have extensive distribution in Canada. We accept submissions of stories previously published in the U.K., continental Europe, and most other countries. All submissions must be in English.

Q: My story was published in a U.S. anthology. Will EQMM still consider it for publication?
A: No. Occasionally we contract to publish stories that have been sold to anthologies, but in such cases our publication is simultaneous with that of the anthology.

Q: Does EQMM accept art, cartoon, or photography submissions?
A: We do accept art and cartoon submissions, but not photography. Cartoons should be sent to:
